Brand: Stevenson of Oxbridge Limited Product: PFS with Convenience stores Consultant: John Heagney Objective: To work closely with this business and assist with expanding the number of sites in a controlled and financially beneficial way that builds the business long term. Mentoring, monitoring and being supportive in all ways possible.
Background
Stevenson of Oxbridge Limited is a long-established business, now owning and operating 3 successful sites based in Stockton on Tees where there are two sites and a third, a new build in Northallerton, North Yorkshire that was added in 2018.
The family-owned business was founded in 1978 with all sites trading under the Nisa Local umbrella. As a partner of Nisa, this enables them to offer the lowest possible prices and the best quality products – from fresh fruit and vegetables to locally sourced produce.
The Story
My relationship with the business and family goes back a long time and in my time at Nisa, I helped to persuade Stevensons to knock down an old and ailing petrol filling station (PFS) and to redevelop it as a state of the art site.
The whole process took some time but it came to fruition as a 3,000 sq. ft store and large PFS.
After I left Nisa, Stevensons asked me to join the board as a non-exec director, a role that I took up in April 2014.
