Brand: Jake and Nayns
Product: Filled Naan breads with curry fillings Consultant: Jonathan Rons Objective: To support Jake and Nayns in developing their brand name in the convenience channel and to drive distribution of this NPD to market in the channel.
Background
Founded by two brothers, passionate about food, with the aim to redefine ‘food-to-go’ and bring delicious food to the masses, challenging the hum drum of what’s currently on offer.
Introducing ‘The Naanster’, a homemade naan from a family recipe with 15 spices and homemade sauces, all made and assembled in one location, based in Leicester. Delicious hot or cold and NO red traffic lights!
The Story
As one of Sainsbury’s ‘Future Brands’, it proved the brothers were on to a winner, so needed help to scale up. Working with the other big supermarkets wasn’t an option because of their relationship with Sainsbury’s, but convenience stores, especially the ‘grab and go’ market, including forecourts was all beckoning.
I first met Jake at the National Convenience Show in 2019, where I pitched brand recognition and listings. Naansters are now listed at Booker Retail Partners, Budgens, Londis, Co-op, Nisa, Spar and Costcutter and I have enjoyed creating a full convenience strategy for them.
I help set up meetings, I attend meetings and regularly discuss tactics to deliver the strategy, all in a consultancy capacity. I feel like I’m part of the team and I’m consulted on all things channel related including marketing, promotional activity, in-store trial and execution. I look forward to continuing to support them and developing the brand and our relationship in the future.
